Recipe for Sustainable Pork

Monday 02 November 2015
The Dutch Meat Association (COV) and farming organisations LTO and NVV have presented a vision for the future to Minister Dijksma, Secretary of State for Economic Affairs. With a strategy based on knowledge and innovation, the sector wants to accelerate the introduction of a sustainable pork production process. The aim of the strategy is to have achieved the following before 2020: - be a worldwide role model in the field of sustainability; - allow food producers to make a significant contribution to welfare in the Netherlands, in a manner appreciated by society; - achieve cooperation within the chain, using profitable earning models where margins are distributed fairly. The chain organisations want to convert this vision into concrete actions in the short, medium and long-term, and into a strategy based on knowledge and innovation. The pork chain hopes to further outline this strategy during the Minister's working visit to the pork sector.
