The Dutch pork sector is constantly innovating in the fields of animal welfare, the environment, public health and sustainability. The industry does this in collaboration with scientific, educational and knowledge institutions and with the support of the Dutch government. This collaboration provides the infrastructure for organising the ability to find solutions and to pursue new, socially desirable gaols.

The Dutch pork sector is constantly working on further improvements in animal welfare, the environment, (public) health and sustainability. Innovative stalling systems are aimed at improving the welfare and natural behaviour of the animals.

At the same time, the Dutch pork sector is finding new ways to inform and communicate effectively with the market and society.

Innovative projects or developments in animal welfare, the environment and health often qualify for government subsidies. Governments also encourage sustainable or innovative procurement. In this way, innovative businesses generate revenue to implement innovations, while the Dutch government contributes to helping solve social problems.
